Detailed Position Description for prospects following God's call to serve:
Okatee Baptist Church is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated man of God, who has a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ, been baptized by immersion, and has beencalled by God into the ministry and to join our church family as a full-time Lead Pastor. The duties of the Lead Pastor are typical of a pastor and will include, but are not limited to, providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, administrative oversight, and a vision for the different ministries of the church that is in alignment with Scripture as stated in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Summary
The Senior Pastor of Okatee Baptist Church is called to shepherd, lead, teach, and care for the congregation. He will provide spiritual leadership, pastoral care, administrative oversight, and vision for the ministries of the church in alignment with Scripture and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
​
Experience
The Senior Pastor should possess:

Proven experience serving as a Pastor or Senior Pastor.

Demonstrated leadership in church administration and ministry oversight.

Education
-
A master’s degree from an accredited seminary is required.

A degree from a Southern Baptist seminary is preferred.
​​
Ordination

The Senior Pastor must be ordained by a church that is a cooperating member of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Senior Pastor must be a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and baptized by immersion. He should exemplify:

Actively support the ministry and cooperative work of the Savannah River Baptist Association.

Support and participate in the South Carolina Baptist Convention.

Support The Southern Baptist Convention, particularly through involvement in international and North American missions.

Affirm and uphold the doctrinal convictions of the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).

Okatee Baptist Church (OBC) exists as a multi-cultural family of baptized believers in Jesus Christ who are dedicated to prayer, evangelism, worship, ministry, missions, and fellowship through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Located in the community of Okatie, in the fastest growing state of South Carolina, OBC is at one of the epicenters of the population explosion. The Church has an average weekly worship attendance of 99 and an average Sunday School and Small Group attendance of 173. A staunch supporter of evangelism and mission work, OBC financially supports national and international missions through the NAMB and IMB, and state missions through the SCBA. Additionally, OBC provides volunteers that serve the local community.
